"Because of partnerships between developed countries and nations in the developing world, there's now a great optimism that the advantages enjoyed by so many in the developed world can be enjoyed by people everywhere. ... Through partnerships between the United States and the developing world, we're addressing pandemic disease." Mrs. Laura Bush September 20, 2006 |
Development and Production of Low-Cost Vaccines &
Diagnostics for Developing Countries
Objective: To eliminate preventable infectious diseases through the development and production of low-cost vaccines and rapid diagnostic test kits.
Strategies:
1. The manufacture of a meningococcal A, C, Y, W-135 vaccine. 2. The development and production of a meningococcal A,C,Y,W-135 conjugate vaccine. 3. The sale and distribution of rapid test kits for malaria, TB, and HIV. 4. The development and clinical testing of a stroke and epilepsy vaccine. 5. The development and clinical testing of a Hepatitis C vaccine. 6. The construction of a manufacturing and vial facility near JN's current headquarters. 7. Development of Supply chain in West Africa by construction of bottling plant in Abidjan and cold storage facilities in Abidjan, Ouagadougou, Niamey, Kampala, Senegal, Mali, Togo and Benin.
This project is designed to address the growing need for biological products in developing countries, especially Africa. There is an increasing demand for meningococcal vaccines in developed countries, and unfortunately this demand has created a shortage throughout Africa. This is where the private sector and NGO must assure a major role. JN, with the help of charitable organizations and its worldwide business partners, will be able to provide low cost effective vaccines to prevent infectious diseases.
